LandlordSimple: Making Tax Digital for Income Tax

Priority 2 · Score 9.5/10  ·  Roadmap  ·  Threshold falls to £20k by 2028

Making Tax Digital for Income Tax is being phased in on a shrinking income threshold: it applies from 6 April 2026 for qualifying income above £50,000, from 6 April 2027 above £30,000, and from 6 April 2028 above £20,000. Each stage pulls in a much larger group of landlords and sole traders who previously filed a simple annual Self Assessment return and now have to move to quarterly digital record-keeping.

What LandlordSimple will do

LandlordSimple is built around bank import and AI-assisted categorisation, so quarterly submissions don't mean manually re-entering transactions four times a year. It covers the ongoing quarterly updates and the year-end tax workflow, aimed specifically at landlords and sole traders rather than accountancy practices managing dozens of clients.

Status

LandlordSimple is on our roadmap behind Corporation Tax and Companies House accounts. HMRC's developer onboarding for each production window needs confirming before we commit a build date; we're not assuming immediate production access.
