From 1 April 2028, every company on the UK register (more than 5.5 million of them) must file annual accounts using commercial software. Companies House has confirmed that web and paper filing are expected to close, moving all annual accounts to the iXBRL software format. This is the single biggest forced migration in our roadmap: it touches every UK company, not a subset of them.
What CompanySimple will do
CompanySimple is built to cover annual accounts, CT600, confirmation statements and deadline monitoring in one place, priced and designed for dormant and micro-entity companies rather than accountancy practices. The aim is the same five-minute, plain-English filing as the rest of our product family, not a scaled-down version of enterprise accounting software.
Status
CompanySimple is next on our roadmap after Corporation Tax filing, our first product. Read the full explainer on what the 2028 changes mean for a detailed breakdown of the deadline, who's affected, and what to do now.
